Gary A. Hansz

For over 15 years, Gary A. Hansz has developed significant experience and provided clients with exceptional legal services both in and out of the courtroom. Mr. Hansz has successfully handled a wide range of litigation matters involving business, contract and tort law, bankruptcy law, creditor’s rights, municipal law, insurance defense and commercial transactions.

After graduating from Wayne State University, Mr. Hansz gained considerable experience in the banking and securities industry before entering the practice of law.

He is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is admitted to practice in all state courts and the United States District and Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.


REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

Gary A. Hansz has succeeded in a variety of cases involving the following types of clients:

  • Nearly every constituency in bankruptcy courts throughout the country, including debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, and trustees and has litigated many of the issues that arise in the context of bankruptcy law, including trustee avoidance actions, objection to discharge complaints, and complaints to determine dischargeability of certain debts.
  • Financial institutions, secured and unsecured creditors in connection with all aspects of commercial collections.
  • Financial institutions and secured creditors, debtors and guarantors in foreclosures and work outs involving real estate and personal property including out of court workouts, receivership, assignments for the benefit of creditors and federal bankruptcy and state court litigation proceedings.
  • Receivers, assignees and trustees in administering real and personal property.
  • Various Michigan municipalities in civil litigation and criminal prosecution matters.
  • Individuals in consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Businesses in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
  • Home owners and builders in disputes involving  new home construction and remodeling.
